what to do with broken and long pieces of relaxed hair
Hair breakage. Ugh. Merely thinking almost that phrase makes me shudder. Anyone who has hair on their head may have experienced it at some point. I know I take plenty of times. What is hair breakage?
When I researched what hair breakage is it kinda sounds a little complicated when yous commencement getting into the scientific discipline of information technology. So for the purposes of this blog post, I'll effort to simplify it.
Hair breakage is when the hair snaps or shatters due to the loss of elasticity or stretch. This typically happens at the weakest points of the hair strand which are usually, though not exclusively, the oldest part (the ends) and the line of demarcation where the relaxed and natural pilus meet.
Most of the descriptions for hair breakage that I found said that it'southward not considered to be a part of the natural part of the hair care or growing process. Hair breakage is typically caused considering of things we practice to our relaxed hair, put on our relaxed hair, or our nutrition.
I learned from that experience if the breakage isn't too astringent, you lot don't demand to freak out. There'south no need to become scared and proclaim that all is lost. While it'southward non guaranteed that you can end all the breakage, there are a few ways you can try and avoid it.
i. Practice protein treatments
Not just a protein-based rinse out or deep conditioner, but a hard or medium protein treatment because they leave your hair feeling stronger when the protein is rinsed out.
I've washed a few poly peptide treatments at home since I started my relaxed pilus journey in 2014 and have had proficient results. During my recent run-in with breakage, I didn't do a protein treatment as soon as I should have. So the breakage was probably worse than it would take been if I'd done the handling sooner.
Some of the most popular home protein treatments are the Aphogee Two Minute Keratin Reconstructor and the Aphogee 2 Pace Protein Treatment. Before yous effort either i do some inquiry to see if information technology's something your hair needs or may respond well to.
You do have to be careful though that you don't use too much protein on your hair and cause something called protein overload which tin cause hair breakage. If y'all'd like to know more than near poly peptide overload yous tin can check out my web log post
ii. Go on hair moisturized
Just similar protein, moisture is cardinal. If your hair doesn't take plenty wet information technology will dry out and basically snap that much easier. Some things I do to go on my hair moisturized are:
Deep status once a week with oestrus
Utilise moisturizing shampoos and co-washes
Until I started to use moisturizing shampoos consistently in my pilus I didn't realize what a big difference they made in the wet levels for my hair. 1 of my favorite moisturizing shampoos is the TGIN Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo.
Regularly moisturize and seal
You can practice this by using a moisturizer/leave-in and seal the moisture in with an oil. 1 of my favorite hair moisturizer and sealant combinations are the TGIN Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer and the TGIN Argan Replenishing and Hair Body Serum.
3. Use a seamless comb
While combing can aid keep out tangles, which tin can crusade breakage, the deed of combing can as well cause breakage if the right tool isn't used. I've been using wide tooth combs for a while. They were combs from the drugstore that did assistance protect my pilus from breakage, merely not all.
The reason was at that place were seams in the teeth of the comb where my hair would catch. Once I started using the Hercules Seamless Rummage, I didn't have that issue anymore.
4. Be careful with the chemicals
This may seem odd coming from someone with relaxed hair, merely I'grand not saying stay away from the chemicals altogether. Just be conscientious when using them because improper use of chemicals on your hair can result in some serious damage. And not but relaxers, just pilus color also.
For relaxers avert overlapping which is applying relaxer to already relaxed hair. For both hair color and relaxers avoid over-processing. Overlapping and over-processing both weaken pilus strands even further resulting in breakage.
five. Wear looser hairstyles
Having actually smooth and tight upward-dos may look good, only they aren't always good for your hair. Sometimes upward-dos tin weaken the hair making it more susceptible to breakage and thinning. To avoid this requite your hair a break. It doesn't hurt to occasionally wear your pilus out or to loosen upward your braids(southward), bun, or ponytail.
